Methamphetamine and the Cannibal!
Just when you thought things were starting to settle down amongst our airways, airlines and the friendly skies, this happens. On an unsuspecting United Airlines flight from Miami to New Jersey, a man was noticed going in and out of the restroom. As he returned to his seat he was also noticed going into his overhead compartment then grabbing what appeared a handful of pills. The passenger ingested the pills and sat down only to almost immediately be overcome with anger and aggression.
Now under normal circumstances this might not seem so alarming, but when you are at 33,000 feet and in a pressurized airplane, you tend to take things like this with a little more caution. As other passengers around the man tried to calm him, he immediately began to get more agitated and took a swing at the person seated next to him, in a full-on close fisted punch! Other passengers seated around the agitated man also tried to help subdue him and another passenger was assaulted by being punched in the temporal area.
As if all of the previously listed violence wasn’t enough, the man then reached over and bit a chunk out of a passenger’s ear. This was the same passenger that he had punched in the nose! Finally, a large number of passengers were able to subdue the man by placing zip ties around his wrists and binding his arms behind his back with those zip ties and a belt. Not knowing why the man was acting so erratically, but having an idea, the captain of the plane then ordered everyone to remain in their seats while the plane was diverted to Charleston, South Carolina for an emergency landing. The local police were obviously waiting at the gate when the plane arrived and placed the agitated passenger under arrest. The Charleston Police Department placed the passenger under arrest for a session with intent to deliver methamphetamine. He was taken to jail where he remains today and has plenty of time to think about his irrational behavior as he waits for his court date. Methamphetamine does enormous damage to your brain and to you physically. Meth also causes extreme erratic behavior and needs to be avoided at all costs!
